1863-1917 Karoly Ferenczy Locations was a Hungarian Impressionist painter. He was one of the leading artists of the Nagybanya school of painting. He studied law and economics. He began to deal with painting at the Academie Julian in Paris. In 1889, he moved back to Hungary, to the town of Szentendre. Between 1893 and 1896 he lived in Munich with his family: There he joined the circle of Simon Hollosy: with whom he moved to Nagybanya in 1896 and became the leading painter of the artist colony. After 1906 he moved to Budapest and became the professor of the College of Fine Arts. Ostade, Adriaen van
Dutch Baroque Era Painter, 1610-1685 Painter, draughtsman and etcher. According to Houbraken's rather unreliable biography, he was a pupil concurrently with Adriaen Brouwer of Frans Hals in Haarlem. Hals influenced him very little, whereas Brouwer, who was described as 'known far and wide' as early as 1627, had a decisive influence on the evolution of Adriaen van Ostade's always idiosyncratic portrayal of peasant life. The first documentary mention of Adriaen van Ostade as a painter is in 1632 (Schnackenburg, 1970). Most of his paintings are signed and dated, the earliest firmly dated example being the Peasants Playing Cards (1633; St Petersburg, Hermitage).
Abraham Walkowitz
(March 28, 1878 - January 27, 1965) was an American painter grouped in with early American Modernists working in the Modernist style. Walkowitz was born in Siberia and emigrated with his mother to the United States in his early childhood. He studied at the National Academy of Design in New York City and the Academie Julian in Paris under Jean-Paul Laurence. Walkowitz and his contemporaries later gravitated around photographer Alfred Stieglitz's 291 Gallery, originally titled the Little Galleries of the Photo-Secession, where the forerunners of modern art in America gathered and where many European artists were first exhibited in the United States.
